SUHYUN JUNG, Ph.D.
I am an applied microeconomist with research interests in environmental conservation and economic development. My research addresses sustainability challenges such as sustainable management of natural resources, such as forests, to mitigate poverty and promote environmental conservation and effective environmental governance. I use quantitative research methods, including econometric analyses of socioeconomic and biophysical datasets, to 1) identify causal relationships between projects and policies for conservation/development and environmental and welfare outcomes and 2) investigate microeconomic mechanisms such as binding land and credit constraints. I aim to draw meaningful environmental and economic policy implications through my research efforts.
I am an Assistant Professor of Economics in the Department of Forest Ecosystems and Society in the College of Forestry and also have an adjunct appointment in the Department of Applied Economics at OSU.
